what are some subtopics i could talk about for recycling?
I am doing an argumentative essay on recycling and water pollution. Anyone have any tips on some different things I could talk about. Something big enough for a 10-20 sentence paragraph for each suptopic. Thanks =)
Recycling is a broad topic and you can probably write an entire book about it.
Here are some sub-topics you might want to consider including in your report:
Definition – what is recycling? Explain recycling as a process, a choice, and a lifestyle.
Benefits of Recycling – How does recycling benefit society, individuals, and the environment? What are the 7 basic benefits of recycling?
Recycling Symbols – What do recycling symbols mean? What is the meaning of the Mobius loop? What are the different plastic recycling symbols and their significance?
Recycling Statistics – you can visit the Environmental Protection Agency site for a very detailed and updated information on this. http://epa.gov
Types of recycling – here, you can discuss the specifics about reycling glass, plastic electronic waste, paper, etc.
Innovations – You might want to discuss the different technological innovations and breakthroughs, like the waste to energy technology in Denmark, or the plastic to oil conversion plant opened in DC last year.
Consequencies if we don’t recycle – You can discuss about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch for example, or the recently discovered garbage patch in the Atlantic.
I hope this helps. For more information, please visit my source:

I wrote a paper with pretty much the same idea for environmental science. I added overconsumption of natural resources, aqua farming and somehow worked in overpopulation.
Maybe if you focused on water pollution, what it is, the causes and then work in recycling as one possible solution. Hope this helps

the best way to sell recycling and even having clean air, water, and food in this country is to try to sell it as a money making activity. talk about that.

You could include how many people exaggerate statistics to try and get their way. Like this.. .LOL –> http://www.epicfails.biz/?p=161
Seriously! Just include a paragraph or two about how recycling is good, but "don’t lie to convince us" type thing.
References :
- Landfills: recycling plants are not only good in themselves, but they also limit the amount of garbage that ends up in the LANDFILLs.
- Materials are granted 2,3,..10.. lives sometimes, instead of being dumped.
- Reusing materials reduces our dependence on raw materials (e.g. trees)
- Cost-effectiveness

reduce and reuse, talk about how those come first before recycling

We are on recycling water! About 40 millions of americans today drinking recycled water from their tab! there are solution to recycle the water even use the Sea water and make it drinkable!
Again we are going back to stage one that who is controlling this and what would be the benefit of doing it for the big boys (Governments). as you all know Coca Cola is buying most of the water source around the glob and they are in fight with Government because of that, this shows that by growing the population and making the sources more polluted we are going to have a shortage and we would be force to pay more for the water than Oil…!
on of the best way to recycle the water for drinking is to use Reverse Osmosis Water System that can help to remove up to 99% of contaminated from the water. the biggest reverse osmosis system is in southern California and has been design and managed by Siemes that can process 250 million
Gallon per day!
There are so many of them has been installed around the world but the question is are the big company like Coke, Pepsi, Fiji…. letting government to add those water plant or forcing people to pay for bottle water.
