PostHeaderIcon has anyone ever tried the china green tips hot tea from starbucks? is it any good?

i wanna try it but i dont know what to expect.
maybe you should shut up jeremy…i asked if anyone tried it, not if anyone hates starbucks. take your negativity elsewhere.

First of all, I thought green tea was a Japanese thing. My wife is a J so all we know is jasmine and oolong as coming from China. Anyway, Starbux sucks as far as teas go. Hell, I go in there and all they do is plop a stupid tea bag in the cup.

Coffee is what they do best NOT tea.

PostHeaderIcon So my city doesn’t offer a recycling trash can program, How can I create one at home? and tips??

I would buy separate trash cans and separate myself… Check with the city and see if they do have a recycling program, and maybe see if you can drop it off separated..
You need to look into this a bit more and see if you can’t get your City to hire a "recycling friendly" company to help with the environment.. Its sad to hear of a city that is not recycling..
Start a City crusade for recycling…

PostHeaderIcon Saving electricity – please help with a family argument?

My son says it’s better and cheaper to leave the thermostat ALONE. I say it saves money to turn the air down a few degrees when we aren’t home. (Not all the way off) What say yee? Does the lady have the right of it or the master?

(don’t know why I’m lapsing into old English- maybe it’s heat stoke?) LOL

Your son is wrong.

And if you don’t have a programmable thermostat, I suggest getting one. They’re not expensive and they’ll adjust the temp for you if you forget.

PostHeaderIcon what are 5 safety tips and 5 energy saving tips on the use of electrical energy?

1) Unplug the drill or saw before changing the bit or blade.
2) If you are not sure about what you are doing, don’t do it.
3) Do not touch both wires at the same time, even if you think it is off.
4) Never replace a blown fuse with a higher amperage fuse.
5) Do not run an extension cord under a carpet.
6) Install GFI outlets or circuits in the kitchen, bathroom and outside outlets.
7) Do not plug an extension cord or power strip into another power-strip.
icon cool what are 5 safety tips and 5 energy saving tips on the use of electrical energy? If a device states that there are no user serviceable parts inside, remember that you are the user, not a repairman.

1) Turn off your water heater when you are going to be gone for a few days.
2) Unplug your chargers when your phones or iPod are not being charged.
3) Unplug TVs, VCRs, DVDs, Microwaves etc when you are going to be gone. They all have a little parasitic current draw that keeps them in a standby mode rather than the no energy draw of actually being off.
4) CFLs may use less energy than incandescents but have negative ecological of their own. Change to LED lighting where possible.
5) Watch a movie with friends and family. It takes the same amount of electricity for you to watch a DVD by yourself as it does for a room full of people. Plus it is more fun to watch it with others.
6) Play cards or board games instead of Xbox or Playstation.
Get off the sofa and play real sports instead of wii sports.
7) Take class notes on paper not a laptop. Not only do you save on the electricity during class but you may refer to your notes without using any electricity. Afterwards you may go over your notes and input them to reaffirm your knowledge.

PostHeaderIcon I live in the NE. What is the best energy saving temperature to set on the thermostat when noone home?

The ideal temperature in the cold winter without bursting any water pipes when no one in the house.

Around 65. If you set it too low, takes more energy to get the house up to temperature.

PostHeaderIcon How do those new flat LED street lights save energy ?

In my town they’ve been replacing all the old street lights with those new LED one’s that are flat. They’re white and very bright, unlike the old ones that are dim and yellow, so how do they save energy if they are brighter, and why are they flat?

one LED light bulb for home uses less than 1 watt of energy. they are designed differently. look for pictures. you can put them in any shape. and new laws requires street lights to reduce light pollution at night. can you still see the stars? if they are flat, designed in a specific way, they wont light up the sky.

except I heard something about blue light hazard from LED lights. I hope they wont damage anyones eyes.

this is what LED is. Light Emitting Diode.

LED save energy cause they work differently. incandesent light bulbs heat up the filament (the wire) and thats how they shine. for energy efficient lights electric current excites mercury vapor, so then mercury atoms produce short-wave ultraviolet light that causes phosphor to produce light. and LED emit light when the electric current goes through it.
